IT started as a lockdown venture to keep business going while the world was closed off.

But now a Rosyth couple are sealing deals with the likes of Spar and CressCo to sell their cheesecakes across the country.

Ewen Brand, 43, and Maighan Brand, 39, opened the doors of the Yellow Coloured Cafe on the town's Unwin Avenue in 2016 and have since become known for their unique dessert options.

In the past these have included cheesecakes flavoured with the viral Prime drink, bubblegum millions, or Crème Egg.

The couple have recently opened a bespoke unit in Pitreavie Industrial Estate in Dunfermline where they have a large processing kitchen to mix up around 1000 creations a week.

"It's been going really well," Ewen told the Press.

"We have a meeting in a couple of weeks to go over things, I do deliveries sometimes and the staff are loving them in the Spar stores.

"The cheesecakes have always been popular but it has been challenging.

"It's a good feeling, the hard work has paid off."

Dunfermline Press:

The Yellow Coloured Cafe won the ‘Best Cafe in Fife’ award at the Scottish Business Awards in 2021 and has been serving homemade cheesecakes since its first six months of opening.

Ewen explained: "In the cafe we have set cheesecake days and they just became crazy popular.

"It's levelled off a bit but we're still doing around 150 a week.

"We pride ourselves in handmade, we don't use machines."

Ewen and Maighan employ three staff members in their warehouse, which they oversee as well as the cafe, and are hoping to recruit more as their business grows further.

Their deal with Spar has been almost two years in the making and has seen their products sold in 15 stores in central Scotland.

They hope to expand that number in the coming weeks and are looking forward to starting with CressCo, a national food delivery service.

"The Cress Company go across the UK, that's a cool feeling," Ewen said.

"We also have local stores we haven't forgotten about, they're the ones who built us up to do this."
