UK supermarkets including Tesco, Asda and Waitrose have 'do not eat' warnings in place on some of their products.

Food recalls have been issued at a number of leading supermarket chains for a variety of reasons, including an outbreak of disease causing bacteria as well as undeclared ingredients which are making products a health risk.

We have rounded up the ongoing product recalls you should be aware of.

If you have bought any of the items mentioned below, you need to be aware of these possible health risks.

Tesco recall

Tesco is recalling one of its cereals over fears the product is a “possible health risk”.

The supermarket giant has recalled its Tesco Free From Bran Flakes, as some packs may contain amounts of another cereal which contains allergy risks not mentioned on the label.

Some Chocolate Pillows cereal may be in boxes of the Bran Flakes. The pillows contain milk and hazelnuts, which are not listed on the Bran Flakes label.

As a result, the cereal may be a health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk, milk constituents or hazelnuts.

The affected products are the 300g boxes of Tesco Free From Bran Flakes with a best before date of May 26, 2024.

A spokesman for the Food Standards Agency said: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy to hazelnut (nuts) do not eat it.

“Instead, return it to a Tesco store for a full refund, no receipt is required. “For further details please contact Tesco customer services on 0800 505 555.”

Waitrose recall

Waitrose has issued a recall and ‘do not eat’ warning over a product which could be a “possible health risk” for customers.

The supermarket is recalling its Waitrose Tomato & Mozzarella Arancini due to a labelling issue.

The product contains wheat (gluten) not mentioned on the label, which makes it a possible health risk for anyone with coeliac disease, and an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten.

Customers who have already bought the product are being warned not to eat it if they may be vulnerable.

A spokesman for the Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: “Waitrose is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.

“These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

“If you have bought the above product and have coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, do not eat it.

“Instead return it to the store from where it was purchased for a full refund. For more information, please contact Waitrose Customer Care on 0800 188 884 (option 4).”

Asda recall

Asda is taking the precautionary action of recalling Asda White Lasagne Sauce because of a possible microbiological contamination risk due to a production fault.

The issue only affects products sold at Asda stores in the North West of England, North Midlands and North Wales.

M&S recall

Marks & Spencer has issued a recall and "do not eat" warning after a popular own-brand product was found to pose an allergy risk to some customers.

The warning affects some of the supermarket's M&S Belgian Dark Chocolate, which has been found to contain milk despite it not being labelled on the packaging.

This means the product is a possible health risk to those with an allergy or an intolerance to milk and milk constituents.

The recall affects 180g packs of the chocolate with best before date of November 9, 2023.

The barcode on the affected products is 29087570.

Ardo recall

The FSA along with Ardo NV are recalling the Ardo Fruitberry mix after Hepatitis A was discovered in the product.

Symptoms caused by Hepatitis A include fever, nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhoea, dark-coloured urine and jaundice.

Anyone who has purchased the product should not eat it, but return it to the store for a full refund.
