A GREEK taverna is now open for business in the former Cafe Giacomo premises in Dunfermline.

Attica Greek Taverna has opened its doors offering traditional food in the refurbished Cross Wynd eatery.

Those behind the restaurant are the owners of Just Greek Food who have a takeaway on Pilmuir Street and previously had a food van on Fife Leisure Park.

Sonila Gerco, who runs the family business with husband Entmont, was pleased to eventually be able to open their latest venture.

"It has been good," she said. "People have been very excited about it. It is authentic Greek food with Greek dishes and grills as well.

"The drinks – all the wines – are Greek too."

Around seven jobs have been created at the new restaurant which is open every day apart from Mondays.

The premises previously housed Cafe Giacomo which has been operating in the city centre for more than 60 years before shutting its doors last year.

Back in 2016, Mark Watters took a well-earned retirement after being at the helm of the cafe for nearly 40 years after taking it over from his parents.

The business had been in his family for around six decades before the City Hotel Group took over following Mark's departure.
