THE number of people out of work across Fife fell by 11 per cent in the last year.

There are currently 8,345 people claiming Universal Credit, 1,035 less than the same period in 2022.

Employer Manager for Fife, Phil Martin, said there were still opportunities for anyone looking for work.

"There is still such a wide variety of vacancies," he said. "We have got some apprenticeships with Sky and Harland and Wolff. It is getting to the time of year where there are vacancies at Edinburgh Airport and they have a jobs fair on May 3.

"Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, Fife Council, NHS and Rosyth Dockyard are all looking for staff.

"There are the usual care and food processing centres are looking for staff just now, especially Kettle Produce. If people are looking for work, there are plenty of opportunities. There should be something there for everybody and it is a mix of full time and part time. Some employers are beginning to be a bit more flexible with shifts."

Anyone looking for work is invited to attend a Fife jobs fair taking place at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre. Appointments are not necessary at the event which is on from 10.30am until 1pm.
