A 51-year-old Dunfermline man twice caused disorder outside the home of a neighbour, including painting on a wall.

David Struthers, of Law Road, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He previously admitted that between September 9 and 10 last year in Law Road, he shouted, swore, banged doors and painted on a wall outside a man’s home causing damage to it.

Then on October 21 at the same location he shouted, swore, banged doors and acted in an aggressive manner towards the same man by attending at his home uninvited, striking the letter-box on the front door and making threats of violence.

The court was told by depute fiscal Andrew Brown that the words painted on the wall “didn’t make much sense”.

The second offence occurred shortly after Struthers had been released from police custody.

At around 8am he started banging on the man’s door swearing and shouting: "I’m just out the cells because of you.”

The victim, who had recently undergone major surgery, videoed the incident on his phone.

Defence solicitor Aime Allan said: “The two of them had previously been friends but there had been a fall-out.”

She added the alcohol consumption has been an issue for her client but “he says he’s now back on the wagon”.

Sheriff Susan Duff told Struthers: “These were unpleasant incidents, not at all in keeping with neighbourly behaviour.”

She imposed a six-month restriction of liberty order.
