FIREFIGHTERS raced to the scene of a blaze in open space near Queen Margaret Hospital.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) mobilised two appliances to the scene near Craigievar Close in Dunfermline on Sunday.

Crews extinguished an area of gorse alight.

Flames could be seen by residents in the nearby Craigston Park and smoke from Halbeath.

A SFRS spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 6.36pm on Sunday, 23 April to reports of a fire in the open on Craigievar Close, Dunfermline.

"Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances, where crews extinguished an area of gorse alight.

"There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe."
