THERE will be a public meeting next week about plans for a solar farm and battery storage on agricultural land to the north west of Dunfermline.

Locogen Developments Ltd, of Edinburgh, have submitted a proposal of application notice to Fife Council for a renewable energy site at Craigluscar, between Gowkhall and Saline.

This gives them a 12-week consultation period before more detailed plans can be tabled.

A statement on the project website explained: "The proposed solar park and battery storage site is located on the agricultural lands of Craigluscar and Easter Clune, Craigluscar Road, approximately 2km north west of Dunfermline and situated in the vicinity of the Craigluscar reservoirs.

"The solar park will have an output capacity of up to 40 megawatts (MW) and the battery storage a capacity of up to 9.9MW.

"The project would have an operational lifespan of 40 years.

"We are in the early stages of the project development and wish to engage with the local community to gather feedback in advance of submitting a planning application.

"As such we would like to invite you to join us at our first public stakeholder consultation event on Thursday, May 4, between 3pm and 7pm at Saline Community Centre."

If approved the panels would go on land either side of Craigluscar Road, near to the Craigluscar Adventure activities and the East Craigluscar Reservoir.

You can find out more about the project at the Craigluscar Solar Project website.
