A CHILDHOOD dream for a Dunfermline rock band is being strung together as they release new music and prepare for a headline hometown show.

TamanFaya, a four-piece which started life as a "group of pals who all enjoyed rock music", released their newest EP, For the Many, Not the Few, recently and will be fresh from regular appearances in Glasgow and Edinburgh when they take to the stage at PJ Molloys.

Guitarist Matt Philp, drummer Aiden O'Hara, his bassist brother Danny O'Hara and vocalist Lois Duncan formed the band when they were just 15-years-old in Dunfermline and have gone on to support artists such as The Shambolics, Paris Street Rebels, Mike Clerk, The Mosaics and Olivia Beattie.

Matt, a former Woodmill High pupil, said: "It’s been a whirlwind venture so far, but the band is really enjoying the journey.

"We started off by just jamming together, as many musicians do.

"We were just a group of pals who all enjoyed rock music, so getting together and forming TamanFaya was a bit of a childhood dream."

He continued: "We never expected to get gigs or release our latest track, but our music is popular and has attracted so much attention from fellow performers in the industry.

"It’s pretty humbling to be given these kind of opportunities especially in an industry that is so hard to make a name for yourself."

TamanFaya will headline PJ Molloys on May 6 with support from fellow Fifers The Castros and Delta.

Danny added: "Playing in our hometown is always a great gig to do, and being the headliner for this one is a tribute to all the hard work and recognition this band has done to get where they are today.

"We can wait to play the songs from our new EP on the night."

For the Many, Not the Few can be found on all major streaming platforms and the band can be contacted for gig requests by emailing tamanfaya@btinternet.com.
