FIFE'S Community Orchestra will take to the stage next month as its performs its latest concert.

Dance On…with KOS, 7 Extra ‘Dance Encore’ is being put on by the Kirkcaldy Orchestral Society.

The music will be provided by the KOS Contemporary Ensemble and The KOS Chamber Orchestra with John Gourlay and Graeme Wilson respectively jointly curating and leading the concert.

The Chamber Orchestra will present movements from JS Bach’s Third Orchestral Suite and Libertango by Piazolla.

Ruth Carson will play a movement of a Vivaldi violin concerto on marimba and with the orchestra while the strings section will perform Peter Maxwell Davies’s Start Point, written for a community group in Orkney during his long time there.

In contrast, the Contemporary Ensemble will present Les Moutons de Panurge by Frederic Rzewski, Sirens by Howard Skempton and two pieces for duet bassoons and orchestra by John Gourlay – Stars and Evening Prayer, with KOS bassoonists Sarah Collins and Hannah Ford.

John Gourlay will perform his own composition, Leave to Live, for solo soprano saxophone and pre-recorded track and a cello ensemble will add two pieces to a varied evening’s programme.

Admission to the concert – which is being held in Kirkcaldy's Old Kirk on May 9 at 7.30pm – is £5 and can be paid on the door.
