DELIVERING a positive future for the area is the focus for Dunfermline and West Fife's Scottish Labour candidate for the next UK General Election.

Graeme Downie, who is currently councillor for the West Fife and Coastal Villages, was selected at a hustings meeting of party members.

He said he will be concentrating looking to create a place where opportunity, ambition and aspiration are provided, encouraged and met.

He stated: “My Dad was an electrician who taught me the importance of hard work and public service. Of the value of education and not being ashamed of being ambitious but that it must be for a purpose. That you should use whatever skills, knowledge and experience you have to help others.

“I will never be ashamed of being ambitious. For my two daughters, for my community, for Fife and for my country.

“The people in Dunfermline and West Fife have had enough of a Tory government at Westminster who have crashed the economy and an SNP mired in division and scandal.”

Mr Downie said he will "focus relentlessly" on the priorities of the people of the constituency and help build a future where they can fulfil their own aspirations and where opportunities exist for them.

“As the MP, I will work to make this a place that looks to the future and deliver the change that Dunfermline and West Fife needs," he added.
