THE class of 2022/2023 are aiming to become the first Athletic side to go a league season unbeaten at home since before the Second World War.

And, for their manager, that is enough motivation for the players to put on a show before they lift the League One trophy.

Dunfermline will collect the silverware after a superb season following their match with Clyde at KDM Group East End Park this afternoon, and they will look to do so after finishing their home fixtures without defeat.

They are also protecting a club record 22-game unbeaten league streak, and boss James McPake said: "If we had lost to Airdrie, we wouldn't need any motivation to be back at home and try and win the game. There's a work ethic, there's a a determination in that group, and there's a pride in that group, and merge that with what will be an expectancy from which will be a big crowd on Saturday.

"But, look, Clyde will be tough as well. They got a good result in the last minute at Peterhead, and and they'll be they'll be looking at trying to build on that, so there's a lot on this game as well this weekend.

"Regardless of records, we never want to lose a game at home anyway. We don't want to lose any games, but particularly at East End Park - that's where we we pride ourselves on being good. Our Away record is better, yeah, people will point that out, but we're still very proud of our home record as well.

"There's obvious ones that that we're disappointed with, one in particular. Myself and Dave sstill kick ourselves with the Peterhead one (a 2-2 draw), when we're 2-0 up with five minutes to go and, again, it's a learning experience for us.

"We make the two changes and Robbie (Mahon) and Kane (Ritchie-Hosler), and it wasn't their fault, but they had only joined the club the day before.

"This game always knocks you down, even when things are going well, and to be still thinking back to that game, it just shows that what football does to you. But we're proud of that.

"Some of the draws, they could have been wins. We had the last minute penalty miss against Airdrie, which obviously would've been another win, but that's what happens over the course of a season."
