AN "entirely spurious" objection to speed reduction measures in Aberdour has been dismissed by councillors.
The South and West Fife area committee said the proposed raised table on Main Street would improve road safety outside the new Cala Homes development, at the east of the village.
It was one of the conditions of planning approval that the housing developer agreed to, but it's been delayed because of one objection.
Traffic management consultant Lesley Craig said: "They only raised one specific concern about the location, that they thought it would impact on HGVs and buses trying to build up speed to get up the hill.
"We didn't feel traffic should be trying to 'build up speed' in a 20mph zone."
She added that the objector was "generally against all speed reduction measures we put in".
Committee convener Cllr David Barratt said: "It's unfortunate to see this here as it has overwhelming support within Aberdour.
"It is a condition of the planning application and locals want to see it happen, and I think they're disappointed it hasn't happened already.
"The objection, to my mind, is entirely spurious."
