JOHN POTTER is hoping that he can bow out at Kelty Hearts on a high this weekend when he takes charge for the final time.

But he also aims to help the club prepare for next season after revealing he has held discussions with his replacement over who could feature in their last outing of the season and have the chance to impress.

The New Central Park side travel to Queen of the South on Saturday for their last match in their inaugural League One season, having consolidated their place in the division for next term.

They will, though, enter it with a new man in the dugout as Potter, who took over last summer following Kevin Thomson's resignation, will leave the club alongside managing director and general manager, Dean McKenzie, and sporting director, Andrew Barrowman.

Yesterday, Barrowman and McKenzie were confirmed as part of a six-strong consortium that has taken a controlling stake at Raith Rovers, and Potter is set to join them as a sporting director.

He will be replaced by in the Kelty dugout by current captain, Michael Tidser, and Potter told Press Sport that the pair have had dialogue about who Tidser would like to see get game time, and that will continue prior to the match at Palmerston.

"We want to try and win a game this week," Potter said.

"I spoke to the guys on Saturday about that feeling of winning a game. No matter when it is, it's important and it's a big thing. Hopefully we can do that this week.

"It'll be a very difficult game; they've been on a good run since we played them last (a 3-0 home win in February). They're another full-time club with a big squad but, hopefully, we can go down, make a few changes, give some guys game time - but it's a game we want to try and win.

"Even in the last few weeks I've spoken to Michael about guys that he maybe wants to see on the pitch, because it'll be him that's making decisions for these guys going forward.

"I'll speak to him about that as well this week, and we can see where we are, but we'll put out a team that we think can go and win the game."

Kelty go into the game having won for the first time in 10 outings against Peterhead, and Potter added: "It's obviously nice to win.

"It's been a strange time recently, to be honest, especially probably the last couple of months. We've known where we're going to be in the league, obviously there's been big changes at the club, so it's been strange.

"When you look to win a game football, and you look to train, you still want to improve players, go and implement what your game plan is, and we'll still do that until Saturday."
