The Pars rounded off a memorable season with a 2-0 win at Alloa Athletic on Saturday - extending their unbeaten league run to 24 games - with Wighton opening the scoring before Paul McGowan added the second.

Wighton's goal at the Indodrill Stadium saw him reach the 20-goal milestone, but came after he had been denied on a couple of occasions in the first half.

He joked afterwards: "I was trying my hardest first half not to get it it looked like!

"I should've scored. I could've had a hat-trick on another day but I'm glad in the end that I got it.

"I was maybe trying too hard I think first half because it was in the back of my mind obviously.

"Obviously we had a lot of chances so, even if it wasn't that one, I knew I would that I would keep getting the chances.

"I think they had a good block at the start of the second half but, I should definitely have scored one, if not two, in the first half.

"I was disappointed with that, but I'll take 20, and hopefullly beat that next season."

On is player of the month accolade, Wighton said: "It's good. It's nice to get these things.

"I'm delighted to get that. It was a good month in terms of goals, but, as a team, you probably could've gave it to anyone the last month. We had some big games, and big (Lewis) McCann as well did really well, set a few of my goals up.

"It's a real team effort, but it's always nice to get a few personal things as well.

"It was a big month with some big games. We knew it was going to be a tough month, with some hard fixtures, but it's good to get it in that month. I scored a few goals, so I was delighted with that."

His boss, James McPake, commented: "I'm delighted Craig that he's got the player of the month for the league, and it's thoroughly deserved as well.

"I believe it's only our second of the season, in terms of players, but that doesn't matter. The main trophy's out there.

"You enjoy all these wee things and, quickly, it can turn sour if you don't turn up on a Saturday and do well."
