Drink and drug drivers, and a motorist whose car had no tread left on the tyres, were among those stopped by road policing officers in Fife in the last few days.

A man was traced in connection to drink driving in Rosyth on Friday (May 5), after a concerned member of the public called the police.

Reporting the incident on social media, Police Scotland South West Fife said: "One male driver has been arrested in connection with drink driving in Rosyth this afternoon (Friday). The driver was traced by response officers shortly after a call from a concerned member of the public. Thankfully nobody was injured, or worse, as a result."

Another driver was stopped by Fife road policing officers on Sunday, May 7, as his vehicle had worn out tyres.

Police Scotland warned: "Tyre tread depth is crucial for vehicle safety, especially in wet or slippery conditions. It allows better grip and handling, reducing the risk of skidding or aquaplaning. It’s important to regularly check tyre tread depth."

Two other drivers were stopped and arrested on Sunday and subsequently tested positive for cannabis. Road policing officers warned others that drugs can be detected in the body for days after being taken.

They said: "Fife road policing officers stopped one driver and got a whiff of last night's joint. It was the second driver during the shift stopped and arrested for drug driving, both failing DrugWipeUK for cannabis."
