Dunfermline's fundraising Duloch Spiderman has successfully reached Mount Everest Basecamp on his latest charity challenge.

Dave Roper, the masked hero's alter-ego, reached the 17,600ft (5,389m) high basecamp this morning (Tuesday), eight days after he set off with his dad, Kevin to make the trek.

Sharing the update on the Duloch Spiderman Facebook page, he wrote: "We did it!! What a day!!

"We finally reached Basecamp earlier this morning after an early start and some graft! We had the privilege of visiting the Makalu Adventures Summit Team in Basecamp. They have been there for 40 days and are preparing to summit shortly.

"We were invited into the kitchen tent and had a fantastic meal before making our way back to Gorek Shep tonight. I'm so pleased that I got to experience this with my dad. It’s been an incredible experience so far!

"We aren’t done yet. Tomorrow we trek up to 5,535m to Kala Pattar to see Everest at sunrise, then we have three long days of trekking back to Lukla, and a 5 hour drive back to Kathmandu."

Spidey and his dad are doing the bucket list challenge as a way to raise much needed funds for an amazing cause, the Edinburgh Children's Hospital Charity. So far, the duo has raised £6,596.

Speaking to the Press before he set off on his latest adventure, he said: "Over the last three years, since lockdown, I've been doing the Spiderman gig. I've taken on various challenges in the last three years, and they just seem to get bigger and better and more extreme. This is just topping it off.”

Dave and his dad will now make the three-day walk back to Lukla before finishing up their journey with a five hour car ride back to Kathmandu.
