AN INITIATIVE that empowers pupils at a Dunfermline primary school to identify and regulate their emotions has been recognised with two awards.

Lynburn Primary School has received both bronze and silver Emotion Works Awards for its strong embedding of the approach in the school community.

Mrs Terri-Anne McLean, the Support for Learning Teacher at Lynburn Primary School, told the Press: "It is wonderful to see our children understanding their emotions better and finding ways to help them regulate their feelings. We can see the positive impact that the Emotion Works Programme has upon learning and teaching and we can't wait to continue to embed this."

As a school and a nursery, Lynburn have been working together to ensure that pupils are supported in their emotional well-being, especially post-COVID.

One pupil said: "I love Emotion Works, it helps me learn about emotions and it makes me feel really happy!"

To celebrate their achievement, parties were held in the school.
