PARS stars Matty Todd and Kyle Benedictus have missed out on further recognition at a prestigious awards ceremony.

The pair, alongside manager, James McPake, were shortlisted for accolades at PFA Scotland's event, which took place last night (Sunday).

Midfielder Todd, and skipper Benedictus, were two of four players up for the League One Player of the Year, whilst McPake was put forward for Manager of the Season.

Benedictus, who played in all-but-one of Dunfermline's League One matches as they marched to the title, helped the team keep 21 clean sheets, and lose just 21 goals, during a record-breaking campaign, whilst also chipping in with seven goals in all competitions.

He, alongside Todd, who netted 11 times during the campaign, were voted onto the shortlist by their fellow players alongside Airdrieonians' Calum Gallagher, and Queen of the South's Ruari Paton.

The pair were the division's top scorers, with 22 each, and it was Diamonds forward Gallagher, who Benedictus revealed he had voted for, who received the most votes.

Whilst discussing his own nomination, the Pars centre back said: "I think I voted for Calum Gallagher. Throughout the season, I think he's probably given me my toughest game, if I'm honest. That's what I based it on.

"I think, overall, more of the difficult games came against Airdrie, so that's probably why I voted for him."

McPake, having guided the Pars to the title, suffering only one defeat in 36 games, was one of four nominees for Manager of the Season.

Voted for by his peers, the 38-year-old was recognised for his work in a season that saw the Pars finish unbeaten at home, for the first time since before the Second World War, and set a new best points tally of 81.

He was shortlisted alongside Celtic's Ange Postecoglou, St Mirren's Stephen Robinson, who guided the Buddies into the Premiership's top six for the first time; and ex-Par, Darren Young, who led Stirling Albion to the League Two title.

The award, however, went to Postecoglou, who has taken the Hoops to their second successive top flight crown, and can complete the domestic treble if they defeat Inverness Caledonian Thistle in next month's Scottish Cup final at Hampden.

Meanwhile, Benedictus and Todd were big winners at Dunfermline Athletic's recent Centenary Club Player of the Year awards, which also saw former stars Gary Mason and Ross Jack inducted into the club's Hall of Fame.

Benedictus was named as the Centenary Club Player of the Year, the Dunfermline Athletic Disabled Supports Club Player of the Year, and the 1885 Business Club Player of the Year, having also picked up the Dunfermline Athletic Supporters Club Player of the Year, with Josh Edwards named as runner-up.

Todd received the Joe Nelson Young Player of the Year; the Pars Supporters Trust Player of the Year; the Goal of the Season award, for a strike from just inside the opposition's half in a 2-0 win at Clyde; and jointly shared the Gary Riddell Players' Player of the Year with midfielder, Joe Chalmers.

The awards, which took place on the evening after Dunfermline received the League One trophy, following their final home game of the season on April 29, also saw goalkeeper, Deniz Mehmet, named as the Management Team Player of the Year; and Andrew Tod win the DAFC Academy Award for Young Player of the Year.

Todd was also named as the Kincardine Dunfermline Athletic Supporters Club Player of the Year, with Chalmers the runner-up, as well as the Dunfermline Athletic Supporters Club Young Player of the Year, named after late committee member and treasurer, Bob Barkway.

Benedictus, Todd, Mehmet and Edwards all made PFA Scotland's League One Team of the Year.
