DIVERSIONS and a contraflow system will be in place as £300,000 roadworks start on the A92.

The surfacing improvements will address defects on 545 metres of the road southbound at the Cowdenbeath junction.

The works, carried out on behalf of Transport Scotland by Amey, are hoped to create a smoother ride for motorists and reduce the need for ongoing maintenance.

Traffic management will involve a contraflow system, which will be in operation from 7.30pm on Friday, May 19, until 6.30am on Monday, May 22.

The A92 southbound onslip at Cowdenbeath will be closed for the duration of the works.

Traffic wishing to join the A92 southbound will be diverted via the A909/B925 through Crossgates to the Crossgates Roundabout.

An advance signing strategy will also be in place to allow drivers to seek alternative routes before reaching the works area.
