A DUNFERMLINE-based charity celebrated its members and volunteers at a special awards ceremony.

Fairway Fife hosted their annual awards night which recognised a range of achievements over the last 12 months.

A peer mentoring charity, the organisation seeks to address the issues of social isolation faced by most young adults with learning disabilities and autism.

By recruiting, training and professionally supporting volunteer mentors, it arranges social events and activities to allow natural friendships and community experiences to flourish.

Members are given a place in the community where they can positively contribute and have a purpose alongside their peers of a similar age.

The event, which was held in the Hill of Beath Club and compered by Judie McCourt, Ambassador for The Peoples Post Code Lottery, saw group awards presented for achievements in indoor and outdoor creative art, sports, health and well being, outdoor activities and growing and learning in nature.

Individual awards being were presented for Fairway Fife’s Inspirational Peer Mentors, Foundation Apprenticeship Student Placements, Volunteering into Work, Volunteer of the Year and Young Adult of the Year.

Awards were presented by representatives from local organisations that Fairway Fife have been working in partnership with including Duloch in Bloom, Grow West Fife, The Pars Foundation, Disability Sports Fife & Fife Council’s Fife Employability.

Charity Manager Neil Freir said the annual event was a great opportunity for all our members, families, staff, and volunteers to come together to celebrate the achievements of everyone involved with Fairway Fife.

"We had over 150 people attending this year which was amazing," he said. "Our members have experienced lots of different community-based activities and events over the past year.

"With the support of their peers, everyone has had the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence and maintain friendships but more importantly becoming more engaged in our local community."
