A WOMAN was robbed by an acquaintance outside a Dunfermline High Street bank.
However the thief, Sarah Williams, claimed later she was just getting money back owed to her by the woman.
Williams, 26, of Broomhead Drive, Dunfermline, admitted that on November 18, 2021 at Santander, High Street, she robbed the woman of a quantity of money.
Depute fiscal Amy Robertson told Dunfermline Sheriff Court the woman had gone to the bank and withdrawn £50.
As she left the branch, she saw Williams standing outside and then approaching her.
Williams pushed a finger in the woman’s face and demanded money from her.
“Give it or I’ll kick you up and down the High Street,” she told her.
The woman said she had £60 and Williams replied, “That will have to do”, taking the money from her purse.
Police were contacted and viewed CCTV of the incident.
Defence solicitor Alan Davie said: “They are well known to each other. The complainer had borrowed money from her before.”
He said his client’s position was that she was getting her money back but accepted the way she acted made it robbery in the eyes of the law.
Sheriff Francis Gill fined Williams £380.
