STAFF and pupils at St Leonards Primary School in Dunfermline have used money donated in the name of their beloved lollipop lady, Margaret, to honour her.
Margaret Boyle worked at the school for 14 years, since 2008 until June of last year when she decided to retire.
Headteacher for the school, Kirsty Muir, told the Press: "Her family got in contact with us to let us know that Margaret had sadly passed away.
"As a gesture we sent flowers to her funeral and following the funeral, her daughters, Karen and her sister, contacted the school to let us know that they had held a collection at her funeral.
"The family felt that the collection should come to St Leonards as that's what Margaret would have wanted."
Margaret, who went above and beyond for the school, volunteering in the kids classrooms pre-Covid and supporting school trips, was a big part of the St Leonards family.
To keep her memory alive, the school decided to purchase a bench with a plaque for the playground and some playground equipment for the children.
She continued: "She was a lovely lady, she was very kind, always thinking of the children and she really enjoyed her time here. The children adored her.
"The children make great use of the bench, they sit down to make firendships, enjoy their breaktime, sit and have a chat and they often will bring up Margaret's name which is nice."
Karen added: "Our mum loved St Leonards Primary School.
"It felt like the natural thing to have the collection at the funeral for St Leonards. She would have been so pleased with the toys and bench."
