PUREGYM in Dunfermline is helping to fuel life-saving heart research through preloved donations.

A collection box has been installed at the branch in support of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Gym-goers will be able to drop off preloved goods such as clothes, small household items, electricals, accessories and shoes.

Donations will then be sent to the closest BHF shop.

So far, the initiative has seen more than 340 boxes fitted across Scotland and 1.98 tonnes of items diverted from landfill, equating to 20,100kg of CO2 emissions avoided.

Sophie Overall, Partnership Manager at BHF, said: “We’re delighted that PureGym is joining our Reuse Revolution by encouraging its members to donate their preloved items.

“We’re not just looking for quality activewear, but any preloved clothes or small homeware items that are looking for a new home.

“In a year, the BHF saves over 56,000 tonnes of goods from going to waste through the reuse and recycling of donated items.

"With the help of PureGym’s donation boxes, we hope this number will be even bigger in the future."
