DUNFERMLINE could be set to enjoy a financial boost after a bid for one of their former stars was accepted by his current club.

Reports have suggested that Kevin Nisbet, who moved to Hibernian from the Pars in the summer of 2020, is being targeted by English Championship outfit Millwall.

The BBC have reported that the London club, who were understood to have had an offer accepted in January, only for the player to pull out of the move, have had another bid accepted for the 26-year-old.

Other media outlets are reporting that the offer on the table, whilst lower than what the Lions previously submitted, is in the region of seven-figures - which would provide the Pars with a cash boost.

When the Scotland international moved to Easter Road for what Athletic described at the time as a "mutually-agreed compensation agreement" between the clubs, it is understood that a sell-on clause was inserted into the deal.

Although there have been differing reports of the value of that, between 20 and 30 per cent, Press Sport understands that the percentage figure remains undisclosed.

After beginning his career with Partick Thistle, Nisbet moved to Raith Rovers in the summer of 2018 and, in one season at Stark's Park, scored 34 goals in 46 appearances.

That prompted then Pars boss, Stevie Crawford, to make a move and, after the termination of his deal with Rovers, he signed a two-year deal to move to East End.

In a season that was cut short due to COVID-19, the striker scored a highly impressive 23 goals for Dunfermline in 32 matches.

Those included a first professional hat-trick in a League Cup win over Albion Rovers, and a four-goal haul in a 5-1 demolition of former club Partick.

His last goal for the Pars came in a 2-0 win over Dundee United at East End - who, along with Hibernian, had had a six-figure bid rejected by the Pars in January 2020.

That summer, he was linked with English clubs Portsmouth and Shrewsbury Town, while United had further offers rebuffed.

Hearts - who were then under the charge of Robbie Neilson, who had tried to lure him to Tannadice while United boss - were also suggested to have made a bid, but it was the Hibees who won the race for his signature.

During his first full campaign at Easter Road, he helped the Leith side finished third in the top flight, and reach the Scottish Cup final, scoring 19 goals.

His form also saw him included in the Scotland squad for the European Championships in 2020, where he featured in all three matches, and he has gone on to win 10 caps for the national side, scoring once, in a friendly draw with the Netherlands ahead of Euro 2020.

Despite not returning to action until December, after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in March last year, Nisbet hit 12 goals in 20 games for the Hibees this season, and his form saw him included in the Scotland squad for this month's Euro 2024 qualifying double-header against Norway and Georgia.
