IN just under three weeks time, Athletic's League One title winners will host German visitors in a glamour friendly – and you could be there on us.

On Friday June 23, Bundesliga 2 outfit, St Pauli, will visit KDM Group East End Park for an exhibition match that is sure to capture the imagination of Pars fans.

In February, it was announced that the iconic Hamburg-based side, which has an extensive following both within and outwith their native Germany, would be travelling to Scotland thanks to the efforts of Pars sporting director, Thomas Meggle.

Part of the DAFC Fussball GmbH investment group which, in September 2020, purchased a stake in the club, Meggle represented St Pauli over three spells during his playing career, and went on to have stints as their coach, and as their sporting director.

St Pauli, whose squad includes Australia international, and former Ross County and Hibernian midfielder, Jackson Irvine, finished fifth in their league and are set to provide an excellent test for James McPake's Championship-bound side.
