YOUNG singers are being called on to take part in this year's Outwith Festival.

The Dunfermline event is fast approaching and the team behind it are looking for musicians to perform during an Under 18 Singer Songwriters Showcase.

Those who come forward will take to the stage at Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum.

A spokesperson for Outwith Festival said: "Calling Scotland’s young singer songwriters!

"Are you under 18 and looking for a chance to perform at one of Scotland’s fastest growing music festivals?

"We are seeking talented musicians to take part in the Under 18 Singer Songwriters Showcase at Outwith Festival in Dunfermline. "The event will take place on Saturday, September 9, at the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum.

"The Outwith live music line up is always impressive and the Under 18s Showcase is a great opportunity for younger musicians to take to the stage.

"To be considered for one of the live slots, all you have to do is send a video of yourself performing two of your songs along with a max 50 word bio telling us your name, age, where you are from."

Entries should be sent by email to events@carnegiebirthplace.com by July 14.

The showcase will take place as part of the Saturday all-day live music event which is expected to attract more than 40 musicians to venues across the city.

The 2022 date was headlined by Fatherson and Luke La Volpe, and included live performances from Dunfermline's Moonlight Zoo, Kirsten Adamson, Dancing on Tables, and Foreignfox.

Having launched in 2017, Outwith doubled in size in 2018 and 2019 before the pandemic.

Its future was uncertain after the loss of full-time staff at Dunfermline Delivers along with the associated funding, but it was revived by the original group of volunteers in 2022.

The festival has received funding from the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust, EventScotland, Fife Council and Fife Strategic Events Fund.

This year it will run from Wednesday, September 6, until Sunday, September 10.
