THE much anticipated Inverkeithing Children's Gala is set to return this weekend.

With free access to those from the village, free entry for all and £5 wristbands for the kids, the gala promises to be a great day out for all the family.

Kirsty Shepherd, the treasurer of the Inverkeithing Children's Gala, told the Press: "We've funfair rides, bouncy castles, stalls, pony rides, a football tournament and races.

"it's a free gala for Inverkeithing folk. If you live in Inverkeithing and you're of primary school age, you get a free wristband to go on everything, a free lunch and a free icecream."

Everything on the day, apart from the stalls, is completely free, making it a great, low cost option for families to get out, have fun and support the community.

She continued: "There's a DJ, we've got dance groups who dance throughout the day on the grass, singing groups who come and do a wee performance here and there to promote themselves."

This year's gala cost around £12,000. A huge amount of time, effort and money went into the community event and Kirsty and the rest of the committee are really hoping that the community will come along and support it.

Kirsty added: "For as long as I can, I'll be keeping it free for the kids."

To support the gala committee in running the gala, free of charge for local children, head along to their fundraisers, volunteer for the committee and attend the Gala.

They also need people to volunteer to help with closing off the roads for the parade this year.

The gala will take place on Saturday, June 24, with the parade leaving the playing field behid the old Inverkeithing primary school at 11:15am.
