A DUNFERMLINE man is searching for his father's lost snooker cue after it was last seen in the 1970's.

Gordon Hastie, 71, is hoping that the cue, engraved with the initials J.Hastie, can be returned and gifted to his nine-year-old grandson, Jack.

The cue was last seen in approximately 1975 at the then Maloco's Snooker Hall on Dunfermline High Street.

It was won by Gordon's father while playing billiards for the Nethertown Institute before the start of the second world war.

Gordon went on to use it from 1960 until 1975 while representing snooker teams from the Nethertown Institute, Townhill Institute and Maloco's snooker complex.

A fire later broke out in 1976 within the Regal Picture House which left the Maloco Cafe and snooker hall closed.

The cue had already gone missing prior to the fire, having been kept hanging up in a tubular casing under lock and key for more than eight years.

A small reward is on offer for the return of the cue, which he hopes can help to carry forward any local and family snooker conditions.

The one-piece cue weights 16-and-a-half ounces with a ash wood shaft and ebony wood butt.

It has a white disk on the butt handle engraved with 'J.Hastie'.
