TOP tips for making the most out of your summer holidays have been shared by a Dunfermline travel expert.

Reports show that people are more eager than ever to get their annual summer break locked in this year and Barrhead Travel has already announced record-breaking sales for every month so far this year.

Leigh-Anne Osoria, Branch Manager at Dunfermline's Barrhead Travel, has shared her best money saving advice for those still hoping to get away.

She said: "Summer is synonymous with holidays!

"It’s the season we all look forward to every single year; a chance to spend quality time with friends and family, explore new places, go on adventures, and make memories with the people we love the most.

"Although it’s always worth it when your face first hits the sun, planning a holiday all by yourself can be a time-consuming and costly activity.

"By taking some precautionary steps and planning ahead you could really be saving yourself hundreds and making for a much more stress-free holiday.

"Our team of travel experts are on hand to help provide you with some of the best packages and deals on the market no matter where you're going!"

Her first tip is to book with a reputable travel agent to ensure your holiday is safe and within budget.

Travel agents can also help to secure exclusive tours, excursions and activities at a discounted rate.

Secondly, Leigh-Anne suggests trying something, or somewhere new.

She says "off-the-beaten-track" alternatives may have higher availability at lower price points.

Her advice also says to be flexible with destinations, airports and duration.

This may include travelling to English airports at the start of the Scottish school holiday to make use of reduced air fares.

She also suggests cruising for those who can't decide on a holiday spot.

Finally, Leigh-Anne says to not forget travel insurance to ensure you are covered against illness or accidents abroad and changes in circumstances before travel.
