A honeybee swarm arrived on the sunny outdoor balcony at the City Hotel in Dunfermline today (Wednesday) sending patrons indoors at the double!

On realising they were not going to 'bee' served the swarm went next door to the Seven Kings - only to find it closed for refurbishment!

Luckily Dunfermline beekeeper Gael Wilkinson, of Kin Bees, was on hand to rescue the swarm and remove it safely to her award-winning apiary nearby.

Gael said that bee swarms are a natural phenomenon which usually happen in Scotland between May and July. They can look and sound terrifying but they’re relatively harmless and unlikely to sting.

She's happy to provide a free swarm collection and rehoming service in the West Fife area. There's more information at the Kin Bees website.
