PLANS have been submitted for a new cafe in Dunfermline's newly renovated Linen Quarter.

Hoping to provide the community with coffee, cakes, light lunches and breakfasts with a speciality in Polish recipes, Izabela Knut is seeking permission to transform the vacant unit on 2D The Depot Winterthur Lane into Bela's Cakes.

Bela's Cakes will make Polish recipes available and accessible to the people of Dunfermline while also incorporating Scottish culture.

The proposed café will be open six days a week from 8 am to 6 pm, with the occasional extension of hours to 8 pm to cater for private hire events.

Freshly baked cakes, bread and buns, served with hot drinks will be available all day and it is planned that everything will be baked on-site in an open-plan kitchen so that the smell might entice passing trade into the store.

The breakfast menu will be light and healthy - overnight oats, yoghurts, and fruits. Lunchtime will serve soup, dumplings and sandwiches, along with a Polish speciality called Zapiekanka – also known as Polish pizza.

Sit-in and takeaway options will be made available.
