THERE will be a road closure in Dunfermline this Sunday to allow a crane to remove a 5G mobile phone mast.

The work is taking place on a short section of Baldridgeburn but it will mean a lengthy detour for affected motorists.

The road will be closed from the junction with Phoenix Lane to the junction with Trenchard Place, with a diversion in place via via Mill Street, Winterthur Lane, Carnegie Drive, Glen Bridge, Pittencrieff Street and William Street.

A spokesperson for UCL Services, the contractor responsible for the works, said a crane would be needed to "lift a 5G mast that's behind one of the garages" on Baldridgeburn.

A previous attempt to remove it had been made via Phoenix Lane, but the lane was too steep for the crane.

It will now be stationed on the road and will lift the 5G mast over the businesses there, D&G Autocare and AH Fireplace Installations.

The section of road is due to be closed between 8am and 6pm but the spokesperson said it will re-open earlier if the job is completed.

There's already a section of the road closed, with Openreach beginning work on Tuesday.
