KELTY HEARTS have a date with the small screen after one of their matches was picked for live television coverage.

Michael Tidser's side, who are about to embark on their second SPFL League One campaign, will feature on the box against Falkirk in September.

The 'Maroon Machine' host the Bairns on Saturday September 23 and, this afternoon, the SPFL have announced that the game has been chosen by BBC Alba for live coverage, with kick off pushed back from 3pm to 5.30pm.

Whilst Kelty have previously had games with Auchinleck Talbot and Dundee United, in the Scottish Cup, and League Cup, in 2019 and 2021, screened live from New Central Park on BBC Scotland and Premier Sports, this will be a first SPFL clash they have had televised.

Last season, Kelty earned their first win in League One, following their promotion as League Two champions, against Falkirk, with Scott McGill and Joe Cardle scoring in a 2-0 home win.

They then followed that up with a 3-2 win at the Falkirk Stadium - with Alfredo Agyeman, who joined John McGlynn's side in the summer, scoring two goals - before a last-gasp goal saw Falkirk come back to win the second New Central Park meeting 2-1, with the final clash of the teams ending scoreless.

Tidser's team, who have beaten Edinburgh City and Stranraer in the Viaplay Cup, after losing their Group D opener to Greenock Morton, visit Montrose in their opening League One fixture on August 5.

Before then, they conclude their Viaplay Cup fixtures at top flight Ross County - who have won all three of their games so far to lead the section - with qualification for the knockout stages still a possibility.
