An Inverkeithing woman, who stole £18,000 from her employers, has been ordered to pay back £1.

Thief Elaine McCall was jailed in May and was brought from custody to Dunfermline Sheriff Court for a confiscation hearing.

The Crown sought a payment of £1 and Sheriff Charles Lugton granted this.

Nominal amounts are sought when an offender currently has no assets but the matter can be revisited in the future.

McCall, 51, of Spencerfield Road, was accounts administrator at a chocolate fountain company when bosses became suspicious about a number of payments.

McCall admitted that on various occasions between March 8, 2019, and March 23, 2020, at Sephra Europe, Denburn Road, Kirkcaldy, while an employee there, she embezzled in total the sum of £18,000.

In May, Sheriff Susan Duff jailed McCall for 93 weeks.

McCall was jailed for a similar offence in 2005.

On that occasion she was jailed for two years for embezzling £90,000 from Historic Scotland where she worked as an assistant purchase manager.
