ALL aboard for a breakout event which has been planned by the Dunfermline Vintage Bus Museum.

Eight vehicles will leave the Lathalmond site tomorrow (Saturday) between 12pm and 12:30 pm to promote the open days taking place on August 19 and 20.

Eddie Busst, the guide co-ordinator for the museum, told the Press: "We were shut down during Covid but started running a 'breakout' on the Sundays immediately prior to opening for the past three years as an advertising ploy.

"The run has proved to be successful so we have decided to try a mini version on Saturday to advertise the open weekend.

"We are restricting the number of vehicles to eight as Saturdays are generally busier than Sundays."

After leaving the museum the venerable vehicles will make their way to Kelty, down the old Great North Road to Cowdenbeath and Crossgates before heading to Fife Leisure Park for a refreshment break.

From there the route goes by Amazon, onto Aberdour Road, along by the Tesco store at Duloch before returning to Aberdour Road, turning right onto Queensferry Road, past the St Leonard's bus garage, up by Public Park, Carnegie Drive, Pilmuir Street and Wellwood before returning to the museum at Lathalmond.

Eddie continued: "There are multiple events during the season but our main one is the open weekend where as many vehicles as possible are displayed outside.

"Shed 4 is converted to an indoor market with dealers coming from all over the UK. We also have many visiting vehicles.

"A free bus service is operated both days from stance 13, Dunfermline Bus Station, generally using a mixture of vehicles dating from the 1930s to the present day."
