AN international yoga master is hoping it won't be too much of a stretch to convert a takeaway in Kelty into a studio.

Ms Morag Wilson has submitted a change of use application to Fife Council for the premises at 12 Main Street.

If the exercise proves successful she'll turn the former takeaway, before that it was the Royal Bank of Scotland branch, into the Jyoti Yoga and Wellness Centre.

Her application says it would be used by a maximum of 14 people at any one time and the proposed opening hours are 7am to 10pm, Monday to Sunday.

The Facebook page says Jyoti is a yoga teacher training school which was founded in 2016.

It also says that, as she has completed more than 2,000 hours teaching experience, Ms Wilson is now certified as an international yoga master.

There's already been one change of use application, from bank into takeaway restaurant, which was approved in March 2020. At that time Savas Kilic received permission from the council to turn it into an eaterie.

Despite a petition signed by hundreds of local people, the RBS branch in the village closed in 2015 and the building was later put up for auction.

There is still an ATM at the building and, coincidentally, Natwest submitted an application in the same week as Ms Wilson's plans were received.

The banking group aim to upgrade the existing cash machine.
