A DUNFERMLINE company has launched another money-saving initiative to give back to the community.
RGM Heating Ltd has announced that, for the month of September, they will be offering a “pay what you can afford” for your boiler service to anyone in the local community who is either in fuel poverty or 80 years old and older.
Graeme Robertson, the Director of RGM Heating, said: "We don't want the cost of living crisis and people not being able to afford a boiler service and jeopardising their health or risking anything.
"Being a small business there's only so much we can do, but we want to raise awareness and get this out there and hopefully there's people we can help."
There is no minimum or maximum number of services available as it will depend on the number of inquiries that they receive.
Work is also dependent on their scheduling, but they will complete as many low-price services as they can afford and the diary permits.
He continued: "From the very start, we have always tried to give back to local charities and the community and feel our latest initiative can really help those that need it.
"People shouldn’t risk potentially fatal accidents because we are in a cost-of-living crisis and can’t afford a boiler service.
"The main reason to have your boiler service is to keep you and your family safe from harm.
"A faulty boiler can be incredibly dangerous because of carbon monoxide poisoning which can be fatal. A boiler service will spot this and can also help prevent this.
"Within the past six months, RGM has encountered this at a family home in Kelty, but we were fortunate enough to get there just in time; a gentleman in West Lothian whose flue had corroded and was leaking carbon monoxide; and also another family in Fife who were in danger of carbon monoxide poising due to a faulty flue.
"These recent experiences highlight the dangers that are currently out there and we want to do our bit to reduce this risk."
Not only can boiler services ensure that your boiler is safe, but they can also ensure your boiler is working efficiently which can save money on bills. Services can also increase the longevity of your boiler.
To apply for the initiative, email Office@rgmheating.co.uk with your name, address, contact number, and why you would like to apply for this initiative. Alternatively, call RGM on 01383 435 993 to discuss this with a member of their team.
People can also recommend friends or family members who they feel would benefit from a free or low-cost service.
