An Inverkeithing performer has urged the next generation of budding actors, singers and dancers to follow in her footsteps by auditioning for one of Scotland’s leading junior stage schools.
Charlotte McCrea, 18, now studies at the Institute of Contemporary Theatre at the Dance House Theatre in Manchester.
She attended Fierce Theatre Schools while she was at school and is encouraging 11 to 19 year-olds with aspirations of a stage career to attend an open day featuring masterclasses this Saturday and auditions on Sunday.
Charlotte, who performed with Fierce in The MGA Academy's production of A Christmas Wish at Edinburgh's Usher Hall, said she first wanted to be a performer when she saw Wicked at the Playhouse in Edinburgh when she was 12 years old.
“My first ambition was to be performing, to be entertaining and inspiring people,” she said. “I was very shy going into Fierce, and from the classes and the support of teachers and peers, I gained a lot of confidence and the ability to adapt by learning new things every week.”
Fierce Theatre Schools’ Open Day takes place this Saturday from 9am until midday while auditions take place on Sunday from 10am until 1pm, with discussions on scholarship opportunities available to parents and guardians thereafter.
All activity will take place at The MGA Academy of Performing Arts at 207-209 Balgreen Road in Edinburgh. To register interest, or arrange an audition, email edinburgh@fiercetheatreschools.com.
