UNEMPLOYMENT in Fife went down by two per cent in the last month, the latest figures have revealed.

There are currently 7,935 people claiming Universal Credit across the Kingdom, 170 less than the same period in 2022.

Fiona Wilson, Employer Manager for Fife, said jobs were still available across all sectors for those looking for work.

"It has been a busy month and we are now preparing for some of the Christmas recruitment things coming up – that normally happens mid to late September," she said. "There are opportunities in varying sectors.

"We are also doing a lot with NHS Fife. Mowi has ongoing recruitment, Amazon has started to ramp up for their peak recruitment. We have got a big jobs fair at the Glen Pavilion on September 28. The council are struggling so much with recruitment. They will have about 20 departments at this event and are going to be showcasing them.

"They will also have some partners like Gingerbread there too."
