A WEST Fife charity has been served up a lottery bonus in the shape of a £150,000 grant.

The Rosyth Community Projects was one of over 400 projects to receive a share of £11.8m across Scotland.

The money will be used to allow the initiative to continue to run a programme of activities and workshops from their newly developed community hub.

Lorraine Mayne, Volunteer Manager, Rosyth Community Projects, said the funding gives them the security to continue their work in the local community.

"This will allow us to employ two part time green space co-ordinators who run our social and educational activities as well as contributing to the employment of our community food co-ordinator who plays a key role in the development of services from our new Livingroom café," she said.

"Early signs show it is fast becoming a very new social hub for our community.”

Also benefitting from a cash injection was Fairway Fife who received £135,000 which will be used to continue the charity's Peer Mentor Support Project for young people aged between 16 and 25 with disabilities.

Culross Stables Community Hub also received a cash award with its £9,950 earmarked to add an additional outdoor storage facility to support the proposed community bakery for their facility.

Commenting on the latest grant round of funding The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland's Chair, Kate Still, said: “National Lottery funding continues to make extraordinary things happen in communities across Scotland.

“I am delighted that this funding will be used to support projects across Fife which have been developed by and for local people which will allow communities to come together to make life better for everyone.

"National Lottery player players can be proud to know that that money they raise is helping to support this vital work in Fife."
