A VIGIL for peace is set to go ahead at the peace pole in Pittencrieff Park this weekend.

The event has been organised by Dunfermline Central Mosque who have asked for members from the Interfaith group to join together in reflection and prayer for the innocents who have died in recent weeks.

Imam Raza from Dunfermline Central Mosque, Rev MaryAnn Rennie, from Dunfermline Abbey, and Olaf Stando, from the Jewish community, will come together along with the community and local groups this Sunday, October 29.

Local councillors and MSPs will also participate in this vigil for peace, and they will be calling for a ceasefire of bombing in Gaza.

A spokesperson for the event said: "We have seen Ukrainian and Russian lives lost in conflict which has continued for the last few years and recently, many other thousands of lives have been lost in the war between Israel and Palestine, young children and hospitals being bombed and the humanitarian crisis deepening with access to basics running low.

"It is crucial for the different representatives of the main religions and for Dunfermline citizens to come together and pray for the world, pray for peace and for the souls of the innocent people. "

To join in on the peace vigil, gather at the Peace Pole near the Glen Pavilion in Pittencrieff Park on Sunday, October 29 at 3pm.
