DUNFERMLINE is set to come together to ask for peace this weekend with two events taking place on Saturday afternoon.

The Fife Stop the War Coalition will hold a peaceful demonstration at the Mercat Cross on the High Street at 2pm to demand an immediate ceasefire of the Gaza bombings.

A broad group of political, civic and faith activists from across Fife is expected to gather to call for a stop from the Gaza bombings and free passage of food, water, medical supplies and fuel.

Then, from 3pm, a peace vigil will take place at the peace pole in Pittencrieff Park.

The event, organised by the Dunfermline Central Mosque, had been due to take place last weekend but was postponed due to poor weather.

Local residents, groups and leaders of the Interfaith group are all expected to gather for the vigil where Imam Raza from Dunfermline Central Mosque, Rev MaryAnn Rennie from Dunfermline Abbey, and Olaf Stando from the Jewish community will speak about the much needed peace and humanity.

Anyone wanting to join is asked to gather at the Peace Pole near the Glen Pavilion at 3pm.
