A BURGER chain has outlined plans to move to Fife Leisure Park in Dunfermline.

American firm Five Guys will seek planning permission from Fife Council to move into the old Eastern Buffet restaurant at 20 Whimbrel Place.

Sandwiched between Nando's and Bannatyne Health Club, it closed back in January 2018 and the burger joint aims to fill the gap at unit 1.

Five Guys have submitted applications for a building warrant - for £325,000 of internal alterations to the existing restaurant, including new toilets, kitchen facilities, partitions and seating - and for advertising consent for signs.

The US chain already has 12 diners in Scotland and the lucky 13th would also be the first in Fife.

If approved it would seat a total of 90 diners, 64 inside and 26 outside.

The plans also show beverage and milkshake areas, unisex toilets, staff lockers, a store room, kitchen, prep area and walk-in chiller.

Started in 1986 in Virginia, Five Guys is named after Jerry and Janie Murrell's five sons.

Jerry's philosophy is 'To perfect and to serve'.

Fife Leisure Park already has McDonald's and Smashburger, as well as KFC, Christie's, Frankie and Benny's, Pizza Hut, Tony Macaroni and Tim Horton's.
