UNEMPLOYMENT in Fife went down by four per cent in October.

The number of people claiming Universal Credits in the Kingdom is 7,405, which is 335 less than the same time last year.

Phil Martin, DWP Employment Manager in Dunfermline, welcomed the news and added that a variety of jobs are still available across the region.

"Fife is continuing to perform well," he said. "There are plenty of seasonal vacancies and, combined with other vacancies, there are plenty of jobs there so there should be something for everyone.

"Amazon's seasonal recruitment will be coming to an end soon and Mowi has always got vacancies as they are hoping to expand. We have got G4S coming in on November 22 because they are doing more security recruitment for Babcock.

"Locally we are working hard with employers to fill their vacancies. We also work with providers to identify opportunities for jobseekers, including different approaches to bring together employers and jobseekers via jobs fairs and recruitment days.

"This enables jobseekers to find out more about the jobs available and the recruitment processes."
