ADVENT continues at the Abbey Church of Dunfermline this weekend with a number of special events.

A Christmas carol marathon takes place this Saturday (December 16) from 11am to 4pm as part of Dunfermline’s Winter Festival.

This is followed by a special ‘pop-up’ Nativity on Sunday at 10.30am.

The ‘pop-up’ Nativity allows visitors to dress up as any character which features within the Nativity story – for example Mary, Joseph, shepherds, angels, sheep and other animals – and be part of the retelling of the birth of Jesus.

A special Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will also take place at 4pm on the same day.

The congregation will host three special services at the Church on Christmas Eve – morning worship at 10.30am, followed by a family Christingle service at 4pm and a special Watchnight service at 11.30pm.

The church will also be open for worship at 10.30am on Christmas Day when those attending are invited to bring a present to show the congregation.

Mrs Rennie added: “December brings many opportunities to visit and share and enjoy the Christmas story in the Abbey Church of Dunfermline and we look forward to welcoming many people in during this special time.”

Full details of all events and services are available on the church website at www.dunfermlineabbey.com and on the church’s Facebook site.
