RARE 'mother of pearl' clouds were spotted and caught on camera by keen West Fifers last night (Tuesday).
The Nacreous Clouds, sometimes known as polar stratospheric clouds, are a very rare type of cloud that leaves iridescent discs in the sky, the sun reflects through the small ice particles in the clouds giving them an oil-slick effect.
This phenomenon was seen across Fife last night, including the West of the Kingdom.
People took to social media to share their snaps of the bizarre but beautiful clouds.
One described them as "very cool fire rainbows" while another called them "spooky".
One Facebook user asked the very important question: "Santa or Aliens?"
