TWO Dunfermline restaurants have come highly recommended at the Scottish Asian Food Awards.

Koku Shi and Namaste Indian Restaurant on Carnegie Drive were both named Highly Recommended at the ceremony at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel in Glasgow on Monday, January 8.

Both restaurants were nominated by their loyal customers and were delighted to be recognised on a national level.

Ram Sigdel, the owner of Namaste Indian Restaurant, said: "We’re very, very happy to be recommended and get a prize like that for the whole of Fife."

He also wished to thank his customers, who have supported his business and nominated Namaste for the awards.

Japenese restaurant, Koku Shi, also came highly recommended for Fife.

Owner of the Dunfermline branch, Monika told the Press: "We took our team and it was amazing to take all the people who contributed to that because it's all about our staff doing an amazing job day to day, every single day to provide the best food and service to our customers."

The staff at Koku Shi all feel honoured to be recognised at these awards and Monika credits them for this award, as she feels it is them who have gone above and beyond for the customers.

She continued: "You can create the most amazing business model and the most amazing menu but if you do not have the right people to do it then it won't work, so it’s all them.

"For us, we are honoured, this is a huge honour for us to be nominated, to be even a finalist for this award and of course to win this award and be recommended."

She also thanked the founder of Koku Shi, Jerzy Urmilowicz, saying: "We are all grateful to him for having this opportunity to be a part of the Koku Shi family."

And to her customers, she said: "I would like to say a big thank you because it means so much to us and especially to our team who got the award for being there for our customers and providing amazing food and customer service."

Looking forward, Koku Shi are excited to launch their new Ramen menu in time for Valentine's Day.
