A Dunfermline gym has spent £30,000 on a “groundbreaking” training programme.

The Bannatyne Health Club in Dunfermline is the first in the UK to offer the Les Mills Ceremony.

It is a resistance-based workout that focuses on full body strength, combining exercises, balance and co-ordination drills, and is designed to cater to a range of fitness goals.

And to cater for the new programme the club at Fife Leisure Park has spent £30,000 on creating and equipping the multi-functioning studio.

It fits into 45 minutes and is named after Les Mills, a former JP, retired New Zealand track and field athlete and politician. It's already an immensely popular workout in his home country.

Duncan Bannatyne, chairman and chief executive of the Bannatyne Group, commented, “We are excited to bring Les Mills Ceremony to our members at Dunfermline.

"This class represents our commitment to offering cutting-edge and diverse workout options. We believe it will be a game-changer for our members, providing an effective and enjoyable way to achieve their fitness goals.”

Carl McCartney, customer experience director of Les Mills UK, commented: “We’re really excited to see Dunfermline reap the results from these classes, existing in-club trials resulted in a remarkable 79 per cent increase in new joiners after just nine months!

"These classes not only enhance fitness but also bring in younger and more engaged members.”

There are plans to expand the programme across more Bannatyne health clubs in the near future.
