“I love being outside on the beach all summer and sharing my knowledge with people. It often doesn’t feel like a job because I enjoy it so much, which is something a lot of lifeguards say.”

There are fitness requirements for those in the role, including being able to swim 400 metres in under seven and a half minutes.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a lifeguard can find out more about the role on the RNLI's website.
