POLICE have launched an investigation after a "serious sexual assault" on a teenager in Dunfermline on Monday night.  

The 17-year-old girl was attacked in an area of woodland in the Duloch Park area of the city and an area remained taped off today. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: " At around 10.40pm on Monday, February 5, police received a report of a serious sexual assault on a 17-year-old female in the Duloch Park area of Dunfermline.

"Enquiries are at an early stage."
